Curry Street & 3rd Street Parking Lot

Curry Street Construction Update:

The construction duration for this project has extended longer than originally planned. The Project has run into delays due to material shortages, underground obstructions (old oil tanks and challenging utility crossings), hazardous air quality from our fire season, and early season rainstorms which hindered construction. We thank the businesses/residents in the area and the public who access the downtown area for your patience and understanding while we navigate these challenges. The City and contractor are committed to complete the rest of the project in a timely manner and provide an improved downtown corridor for all users.

The 3rd Street Parking Lot will be reopened to the public by the end of the week with an anticipated opening date of 11/18. Partial closures of the parking lot will occur to install landscaping, irrigation drip lines, and lights in the future.

One-way northbound traffic between 5th and Musser will continue as the contractor works on the west side of the street to complete the underground and sidewalk improvements. The temporary street parking during construction will be removed once the parking lot is re-opened to allow construction along the street to occur.

At the site, there are currently sections of missing sidewalk that have been finished with asphalt to minimize hazards to pedestrians walking through the corridor. Delays in procuring the necessary materials to finish the work, such as utility vaults, have necessitated this temporary change. Most of the hardscape improvements (sidewalk and removal of asphalt to be replaced with concrete) along Curry are planned to be complete by year's end. The removal of overhead power and communication lines, landscaping, irrigation drip line, and reconnection of building electrical services will continue diligently into January of 2022.

A public meeting will be held at 10:00 am on the west end of the McFadden Plaza on 11/22 for anyone who would like to ask questions about the project or bring up concerns.

The McFadden Plaza and businesses within the project limits are open during construction.
